Time For IVF? 4 Tips To Improve Your Chances Of A Successful Transfer

Health & Medical Blog

If you're dealing with the emotional roller coaster of infertility, and you've decided to go the route of IVF, now's the time to start planning for a successful egg transfer. Of course, the majority of the work will be performed by the medical staff, but there are still some things that you can do to get things ready. Here are four steps that will help you prepare for the IVF transfer.

Eat Right

In a perfect world, your first IVF transfer will be successful, and will result in a healthy pregnancy. You can increase your chances of that positive outcome by eating right. Before the IVF transfer, eliminate processed foods, excess simple carbohydrates, and foods high in sugar. Be sure to add plenty of steamed vegetables, and fresh salads. Eating right will help increase your chances of a successful transfer. It's also important that you stay hydrated. Keep a bottle of water on hand at all times during the day.

Avoid Stress

Stress can interfere with successful IVF transfer. For at least a week before transfer, remove as much stress as you can from your daily life. Take a vacation from all outside stress and anxiety. If possible, stay home from work and relax. If staying home from work isn't an option, enroll in an evening yoga class, or add daily walks to your routine. Relaxation will help calm your mind, your body, and your uterus, which will aid beneficial to the IVF process.

Go Easy on the Exercise

Too much physical exertion can interfere with the transfer. Prior to going in for your IVF procedure, cut down on the exercise, even if you're used to strenuous activities. Limit your exercise routine to swimming, brisk walks, or light workouts. Your doctor will let you know when you can resume your normal workouts. If you usually don't get much exercise, now is not the time to take up weight training, or other strenuous workout routines.

Add Uterine Massage

In order for IVF transfer to be successful, the uterus needs to be primed for the procedure. A relaxed, supple uterus is what you're aiming for. The best way to achieve that is with uterine massage. Schedule sessions with your massage therapist, and ask them to provide you with at-home massages you can perform yourself.

If you're preparing for IVF transfer, use the tips provided here to get your mind and your body ready for the procedure. Be sure to talk to a doctor, like one from Missouri Center for Reproductive Medicine, about other techniques that will increase your chances of a successful transfer.

Tips for Living a Great Life with Chronic Illness

I was always very healthy throughout my childhood, but when I became a teenager, I was diagnosed with a chronic illness. Thankfully, I had the support of my loving family to help keep me upbeat during a time that could have led to me experiencing the depression that some do after they first learn they will have an illness for life. I am very grateful for the advice I have gotten throughout my life, so I decided to create a blog where I can share all of the advice that has helped me live a happy, healthy life, despite having a chronic illness. Since I am on a medication that suppresses my immune system, I have also studied up on many other illnesses and tips for avoiding them and treating them. I plan to post health tips for people of a variety of ages and suffering with various illnesses!
